PKR – The 3D Poker Experience Review
I thought it was about time that I did an update to the site and give more details from such an exciting site. Not only to play on but also the experience that you get from playing on here is second to none.
PKR.com advertises themselves as "the new dimension in online poker". The website certainly looks very good, but what do they offer and what is it like to play poker on pkr.com? The game play offers a game for all levels of poker and feels like you are playing in a game environment, which can mean that some play can be very lose. The only thing with people playing very lose the game can go any way sometimes. People can call with any two cards and can make it hard to win on the low stakes tables. However the higher stakes tables do play a lot better and make it an enjoyable place to play. With taunting and people on here like to talk a lot more. Don’t worry if you find this annoying, as it can be turned off.
The download
Typically this takes a few minutes, this was no exception I thought, until I run the setup and realized I had to wait while the data file downloaded. When I first downloaded the software I was using my mobile not a broadband connection, but this didn’t put me off. I was downloading at a speed of 45-47k sec and it is going to take me over an hour to download. With a faster connection it would be much quicker and very much worth the wait. While I waited for the download I spent my time looking round the site and find out what PKR.com are all about; so maybe waiting for the download wasn’t such a bad thing after all.
They offer poker school, which is a section on the site that allows you to learn how to play different types of poker and offers advice on different strategies on how to play. This Offers something to all levels of player. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced; so no matter what your level of play there is some advice on there for you. When the download was done, setting up an account was easy enough and I wasn’t forced to make any kind of deposit of real money first off, but I after a couple of games with practice money I was making my first deposit and was soon in the winning seat. I am not a high stakes player, but so far have won a few sit and go tournaments and have won a Multi Table Tournament, winning $50 from a $2 buy in.
An update to the download
There is now an add-on to PKR game site called the PKR Pal. This is a fantastic little add-on that allows you to be notified when certain games and tournaments are about to start. By setting the limits that you play at, you will only be notified when a game of interest is about to start. It will also make sure that you are kept up to date with any updates in the software and in game player additions. Again if you find this annoying you can easily turn it off.
The tables
Normally at this point I would just tell you what tournaments are on offer and the usual stuff, however pkr poker is not just any normal poker site, it is like your setting up a virtual reality game. If you want to spend the time you can model your character. You can look like anyone you want, or you can just press random a few times until you get something you’re happy with. You can change everything down to eye color, clothes, caps, glasses and even your voice. All of these are upgraded on a regular basis and you can also use your pkr points to buy new items in the game. These can be anything from new tricks to new items of clothing, which can all help intimidate your fellow players.
Playing on the tables is very different from any other table that I have played on before. You are offered 8 different views of the table, which range from overview (default view), each corner of the table and even a first person perspective view (very fancy). I tend to stick with the normal over view when playing in a real tournament, but switch it about when in the play money tables. You can also play on up to 4 different tables at the same time, which normally might be a little confusing, switching between each screen, but not on here, as they offer picture in picture facility, so it is easy to switch between each of the tables you might be playing on. This can be a little confusing at first, but can be practiced in the play money tables, so when a game is slow, why not open up another game.
Play money tables offer you the chance of practicing in a real tournament environment. So you can get that buzz of coming first when you are pitted against other tables. Before you go out and play for real it also gives you a chance of learning how the software works. You can even build up the amount of play money you have. I will warn you though, you are better off playing on the real money tables though, as the play money tables is far too lose and will not prepare you all that much for real money games. Far to many people on the play money tables will want to go all in on the first hand just because they have a picture card. If you sign up then get yourself on low stakes at least and work your way up to a larger bank roll.

There are also satellite games, which offer entry in to much larger tournaments.
At the moment these include:
Entry in to the 2008 World Series of Poker
Every Sunday there is a $25k Guaranteed with buy-in as little as $7.15+$0.65 or by using just 600 pkr points
Every Saturday there is a $20K guaranteed, with buy-in as little as $$6.05 or by using just 500 pkr points
I would love nothing more than to hear about how you won your way through the WSOP, by playing on PKR, after reading my review. Well there is one thing more and that is being there myself of course.
My thoughts
I love playing poker on this site. I started off by playing on the play money tables, but soon found myself playing for real money tables. I just love the feel of the way the tables play and also you can shout out to fellow players and taunt them. Not something you want to do too much of though as it can be very annoying. If you are being annoyed by a player you can click their name and then choose to ignore them. I tend to sit there and be quiet and just get on with the game. I have made a few friends on pkr that I chat to on a regular basis on and off line, which helps create a much better feeling when you’re playing online. People who normally shout out and taunt a lot tend to be people that bluff a lot, however there is the other side where people will have the best hand possible and try to make you go all-in. No matter what your level of play then there is something on this site for you, even if you’re just looking to have a play about and see what all the fuss is about. Come on down and look for me ZarToGUK.
Don't forget our Monthly game held on the 28th each month in 2008.
*please note that sign up bonus amounts and offers may vary from this poker site review and are controlled by pkr and are subject to change. See www.pkr.com for full t&c
